She started to play the piano at the age of five and from the age of thirteen she studied at the Bartók Béla Conservatory in Budapest. In 1983 she won the first prize of the National Piano Competition and then continued her studies at the Ferencz Liszt Academy of Music under the tutorship of Zoltán Kocsis and later under Kornel Zempleni. In 1985 she received a diploma at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw and in 1988 she was a finalist at the Montreal International Piano Competition. She received her degree at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in 1990 and in the same year she won the first prize at the Dohnányi Piano Competition followed in 1990 by the Juventus prize in d'Arc et Senars and the Ravel prize in Saint-Jean.de.Luz. In 1992 she gave very successful concerts at the EXPO '92 and played at the Yehudi Menuhin Festival in Reims. In 1993 she received the International European Music Prize in Zürich.
