Description: In his 2007 video on "The Essentials Of The Christian Faith," ProclaimHisWord (Mark Sennett) explained that Total Depravity was not an essential doctrine in his description box to that video. In his 2010 video "Statement of Faith," Total Depravity is not even mentioned! The doctrines ProclaimHisWord considers unessential to Christianity are: 1) Total Depravity 2) Unconditional Election 3) Limited Atonement 4) Irresistible Grace 5) The Perseverance and Preservation of the Saints (The Arminian teaching of "Eternal Security" is unBiblical.) When a man fails to identify Original Sin and Total Depravity as essential doctrines of Biblical Christianity, then it is clear that such a man does not understand the Law, the Gospel, nor Justification By Faith Alone! It is the Law that teaches men that Adam's sin is imputed to them--that men are born sinful and condemned. The fallen sons of Adam are totally depraved, completely corrupt, and inclined to only evil. The Law teaches us that man does not have free-will. A rejection of Total Depravity implies free-will and justification by faith and works. Let no one mistake ProclaimHisWord as being remotely Calvinistic, for Mark Sennett is not Reformed at all. Sennett's adherence to the heresy of Lordship Salvation was indication enough. Would you consider a teacher Calvinistic if he failed to name the doctrine of Justification By Faith Alone as an essential belief in Christianity? Shouldn't Calvinistic teachers at least mention the doctrine of the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ to His elect when teaching the essentials? In an age when Neo-Protestants rush off to sign ecumenical statements with Catholics (who also think Total Depravity and Sola Fide--especially the imputed righteousness of Christ--are unimportant), shouldn't Calvinistic individuals hold teachers to Calvinistic standard?
